Yoga and Naturopathy for Hysteria

An uncontrollable outburst of emotion or fear, often characterized by irrationality, laughter, weeping, etc is called hysteria. A group of psychiatric symptoms, including heightened emotionality, attention-seeking behavior, and preoccupation with physical symptoms that may not be explainable by a medical condition. The term hysteria is no longer in clinical use, and such symptoms are currently attributed to any of several psychiatric conditions, including somatic symptom disorder, conversion disorder, and histrionic personality disorder.

1.          Sprinkle water in the face of the patient.

2.         Put your nail of thumb in the thumb of the patient and press.

3.         Make the patient smell asafetida (hing) and onion.


Asana: Vajrasana, Simhasana, Gorakshasana, Konasana, Tadasana, Urdhahastottanasana, Bhujangasana, Uttanpadasana, Savasana etc.

Pranayama: Om Chanting, Deep Breathing, Kapalbhati, Nadi Sodhan, Bhramari 

Meditation: Practice Yog Nidra and Meditation.

Diet Therapy:

Observe fasting on lukewarm water and then on fruit juice and fruit and uncooked food and then start balanced diet.  Honey can be used while in fasting. BlackBerry is very useful.

Naturopathy: Loosen the cloth and expose the body to air at the time of fits. Rub the soles of the feet and palms.
