Yoga and Naturopathy for Acidity and Heart Burn

Acidity is a term used for a set of symptoms caused
by excess production of acid by the gastric glands
of the stomach. Acidity occurs when there is excess
secretion of acids in the gastric glands of the stomach.
When the secretion is more than usual, we feel, what
is commonly known as heartburn. It creates a burning

pain in the lower chest area, often after eating. It is
normally triggered off by consumption of spicy foods.
Keeping long intervals between meals is another cause
for acidity.
TREATMENT
Yogic Kriya: Take mud pack on abdomen and then
take enema. After enema do Kunjal Kriya. Do it every
day for one week and thereafter once in a week.
Asana: Vajrasana (This is the only asana suggested to
practice after meal. It is suggested to pass urine after
meal and sit in Vajrasana for 5-10 minutes). Other
asanas need to be done empty stomach.
Suggested asana: Ardhamatsyandra asana, Vakrasana,
Paschimotanasan, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana,
Parvatasan, Pawanmuktasan and Savasana.
Pranayama: Deep breathing, Kapalbhati and
Nadisodhan paranyama.
Bandha and Mudra: Apan Mudra, Uddiyan Bandh,
Tri-Bandh.
Diet Therapy:
Suggested Foods: Coconut water, lemon and honey
water, fruit and vegetable juice, fresh amla juice or dry
amla powder with a bit of turmeric in honey. Develope

a habit of eating one spoonful of aniseed (saunf) or
one cardamom and one clove after meal.
Foods to Avoid: Strictly avoid fried food, spicy food,
fast food, fatty food, maida products, white sugar,
extcessive salt and wrong combination of food (Viparit
Aahar) viz. eating animal protein with vegetable
protein or salt with milk etc.
