Yoga and Naturopathy for Gallbladder Stones

Gall bladder stones (commonly misspelled gall stones
or gall stone) are solid particles that form from bile
cholesterol and bilirubin in the gallbladder. The
gallbladder is a small sac like organ in the upper right
part of the abdomen. It is located under the liver, just
below the front rib cage on the right side. It needs to
be emptied time to time. But because of unhealthy
diet habit and life style it remains full. It leads to
crystallization of undissolved cholesterol, but may
contain other components.
Exercise is important for treating gall bladder stones.
Physical inactivity is one of the main causes of lazy
gall-bladder type indigestion and eventually results in
the formation of stones.
Yogic Kriya: Practice Ardha Shankhprakhshalna daily
and kunjal kriya twice in a week.
Asana: Madukasna, Vakarasna, Ardhmatsyendrasna,
Gaumukhasna, Pawanmuktasna, Kati Chakrasana,
Trikonasana, Paschimot-anasana, Bhujangasana,
Salavasana, Dhanurasana, Chakrasana, Sarvangasana,
Halasana etc.
Pranayama: Kapalbhati, Agnisar, Bahiya, Anulom
Vilom, Ujjai etc.
Bandha & Mudra: Viparit Karani, Uddiyan Bandh, Tri
Bandh, Apan Mudra etc.
Diet Therapy:
The most effective gall bladder remedy is to improve
the diet. Smaller stones can even be removed by
consuming a proper diet. Do fasting on a liquid diet for
some days. Drink only water and later start including
other liquid forms of food like soups, juices. Eat plenty
of fresh vegetables (opt raw vegetables), fresh fruit
and vegetable juices. Citrus fruits like lemons, oranges
and grapefruit should be included in the diet. The
acids present in these foods help to dissolve the stone
naturally. Yoghurt is good for Gall Bladder conditions.
Avoid: Refined carbohydrates and sugars found in
carbonated and alcoholic drinks, heavy protein, milk,
cream, cheese ghee, non-vegetarian diet etc.
Herbal remedies:
• Fresh juices of beet root, the juices of carrot and
cucumber in quantities of 100 ml each, are one
of the finest cleansers of the gall-bladder. Take
it daily empty stomach in the morning.
• Aniseeds (Saunf) acts to remove the stones from
the gall bladder. Take it daily after food.
• Take 5 grams papaya root. Properly wash and
grind it. Place it in a cotton cloth and strain it.
Drink it on empty stomach in the morning daily.
The stone in the gall bladder will dissolve and
flow out is days.
• Soak 50 gm of KULTHI pulse in the evening
and drink the water along with kulthi in the
morning. It will dissolve all type of stone.
Naturopathy: Take Mud pack or abdomen enema, hot
and cold fomentation on abdomen, hip bath, steam
bath, wet sheet pack and hot foot bath etc. If the pain
is intolerable, take hip bath with lukewarm water for
20 minutes. If sitting in hot (lukewarm) water is not
possible then take a towel and soak it in hot water.
Keep it in abdomen for 10 minutes. Do it thrice so that
warmness is maintained.
